The 2024 Spring Festival Gala logo.
On Saturday, China Media Group (CMG) unveiled the official theme and logo for the 2024 Spring Festival Gala, which will take place in February 2024, the Year of the Dragon .
The main visual symbol of the Spring Festival Gala is the character “,” which means “the soaring of the dragons.” As the dragon has evolved into a spiritual being, the chosen character is a metaphor for the thriving 1.4 billion Chinese people.
The design, which was inspired by an ancient Chinese seal script style, is solemn, balanced, upright, and symmetrical, emphasizing a grand and vigorous cultural atmosphere.
The seal logo for the gala, designed by Gu Yongjiang, who is also the logo designer for China’s lunar exploration program and planetary exploration project, is also styled with a metallic, golden lustre that looks like a chip – bridging the past, present, and future from an ancient Chinese character to cutting-edge modern technology.
Since 1983, the CMG Spring Festival Gala has been an important part of the Chinese Lunar New Year celebration. The gala will feature music, dance, comic sketches, opera, and folk arts.
The annual spectacle, known as the world’s most watched television show, is broadcast on the eve of Chinese New Year, when families gather to usher in the new year.
The 2024 Spring Festival Gala will air on February 9, 2024, Spring Festival Eve.
